This course helps the student develop basic alpha/numeric keyboarding with skills on
a personal computer; develops a straight-copy rate of 25 to 30 gross words a minute
with a predetermined error limit.

(27 hours lecture; 27 hours lab Degree appropriate, CSU)

(May be taken for option of letter grade or Credit / No Credit.)

Course Measurable Objectives:
- Demonstrate the ability to touch type using correct finger placement.
- Demonstrate the ability to keyboard at the rate of 20-30 words per minute on a two-minute timing.
- Demonstrate the ability to proofread for accuracy and format.
- Demonstrate the ability to interpret and use proofreader's marks.
- Demonstrate the ability to center lines horizontally.

- Students completing COMP 1A - Computer Keyboarding will be able to touch type effectively.
- Students completing COMP 1A - Computer Keyboarding will be able to demonstrate effective application of punctuation and formattting rules.
