This course presents an in-depth study of computer applications utilized in the office environment.  Instruction includes extensive hands-on instruction in word processing, spreadsheet, data management, and business graphics.   Intended for the student who needs to upgrade or acquire office computer skills.
 
(54 hours lecture;   54 hours lab;   Degree appropriate, CSU, UC)
(May be taken for option of letter grade or Credit / No Credit.)

Course Measurable Objectives:

  1. Operate a computer and explain basic computer concepts.
  2. Organize and manage files on a computer.
  3. Create a variety of business/office documents using word processing software.
  4. Create worksheets and charts appropriate to the office environment using spreadsheet software.
  5. Create databases and manipulate data with data management software.
  6. Create business/office documents utilizing graphics software.
  7. Create business/office documents that integrate these computer applications utilized in the office environment.
  8. Evaluate appropriate uses for the various softwares in managing the workload of an office.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Students completing COMP 12 - Office Computer Applications will be able to use word processing software competently.
  2. Students completing COMP 12 - Office Computer Applications will be able to integrate information from word processing, spreadsheet, and database application files to create a business document.
