This course helps the student develop basic alpha/numeric keyboarding skills on a
personal computer; develops a straight-copy rate of 25 to 40 gross words a minute
with a predetermined error limit; includes keyboarding of letters, tables and manuscripts.

Course Measurable Objectives:
- Demonstrate the ability to touch type using correct finger placement.
- Demonstrate the ability to keyboard at the rate of 25-40 words per minute on 2- and 3-minute timings.
- Demonstrate the ability to proofread for accuracy and format.
- Interpret and use proofreader's marks.
- Utilize correct formats to accurately keyboard letters and short manuscripts.
- Demonstrate the ability to center tabulated documents both vertically and horizontally.

- Students completing COMP 1 - Computer Keyboarding will be able to touch type effectively at the completion of COMP 1
- Students completing COMP 1 - Computer Keyboarding will be able to effectively proofread a business document for accuracy and format.
