FASH 21 - Patternmaking 1

Course Measurable Objectives:
- Develop digitized pattern pieces.
- Perform manipulations such as trace, fold, flip, and add fullness.
- Apply a grade rule table to a grade pattern piece.
- Apply grading rules and develop marker exhibiting minimum of five sizes.
- Select design lines from an existing database and combine them into a new pattern design.
- Evaluate the appropriate use of computer tools in developing short-cut methods to manual patternmaking.
- Define the terminology, basic tools, and techniques necessary to create computer- generated patterns and pattern grading.
- Create seasonal design boards using both Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Utilize computer technology to improve existing personal pattern portfolio.

Course Level Student Learning Outcomes:
Students completing FASH 24 - Fashion Patternmaking by Computer will:
- be able to create a Pattern that includes pattern card, flip codes, fabric categories and storage folders (using CAD software) pursuant to apparel industry standards.
- be able to create a sized skirt with accurate point movements, grading and fabric marker (using CAD software) pursuant to apparel industry standards.
- be proficient in using Gerber Patternmaking.
