This is an introductory course in information systems security covering the ten domains needed for the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).

Course Measurable Objectives:

  1. Identify and define information systems security principles.
  2. Identify and define the terminology of information systems security.
  3. Research a case study of the basics of risk management.
  4. Identify the ten domains of information security.
  5. Identify and define how to work with freeware that applies to the ten domains.
  6. Differentiate between cryptic passwords and non-cryptic passwords.
  7. Demonstrate through case studies the role of procedures, policies, standards and guidelines.

Course Level Student Learning Outcomes:


Students completing CISS 13 - Principles of Information Systems Security will be able to:
  1. understand the "need for security."
