This course provides extensive hands-on instruction using Microsoft Word and its
editing, formatting, and language tools to create, revise and format various business
and report documents. Also create flyers, newsletters, and other publication
documents using advanced formatting techniques and tools.
Students who repeat this course will improve skills through further instruction and practice.

CISB 15 - Microcomputer Applications
or
CISB 16 - Macintosh Applications

or
CISB 13 - Microsoft Windows
and ability to type 25 wpm with test verification

Course Measurable Objectives:
- Create, edit, store, and print files using Microsoft Word.
- Format text, paragraphs, and layout effectively and efficiently.
- Utilize Word's language and reference tools.
- Integrate text and graphics in publication documents (i.e. flyer, newsletter, brochure, etc.)
- Create and manipulate headers/footers, footnotes/endnotes, page numbering, and watermarks.
- Create and format tables and charts created in Word or imported from a spreadsheet file.
- Apply, modify, and create styles.
- Utilize Word's outlining feature effectively.
- Generate mass mailings, mailing labels, and a directory using Word's mail merge feature.
- Utilize sort and query techniques.
- Generate index, table of contents, and table of authorities.

Course Level Student Learning Outcomes:
- Students completing CISB 31 - Microsoft Word will be able to create a Word document in which text, paragraphs, and layout are formatted effectively and efficiently.
- Students completing CISB 31 - Microsoft Word will be able to use Word's mail merge feature to generate customized letters and mailing labels in mass.
