This beginning course gives the student an introduction to the Windows operating
system and the Office suite of applications. Solving simple business
problems using up-to-date software such as:
- browsers
- word processing
- spreadhseet
- database management
- presentation
- and integrating these software applications
The student receives hands-on instruction on a Windows-based personal computer.

Course Measurable Objectives:
- Identify and define basic computer terms
- Solve simple business problems using a personal computer and word processing, spreadsheet and database software.
- Demonstrate the ability to perform intermediate spreadsheet tasks including: entering data, cell operations, absolute versus relative addresses, formatting, functions, copying, pasting, inserting data, charting data, adding text to the worksheet and printing options.
- Write, debug, and execute elementary computer programs using a variety of computer languages and platforms.
- Analyze and produce a written report on a current article dealing with computer hardware or software.
- Describe basic computer security strategies.

Students completing CISB 15 - Microcomputer Applications will:
- be able to effectively use formulas and functions in worksheets.
- be able to use Microsoft Word to create professional documents needed to create a computer security report.
- understand the importance of continuing their education in computer literacy.
