CHLD 91 Course Image
This is a teacher-supervised work experience course which permits students to apply early childhood development principles in community preschools.

CHLD 69 Seminar will supplement the student's progress.  A minimum of 75 paid or 60 non-paid hours per semester of supervised work is required for each unit of credit.   It is recommended that the hours per week be equally distributed throughout the semester.

(May be taken for Pass / No Pass only.)

Course Measurable Objectives:

  1. Integrate job-related skills as required at school site by teacher-supervisor-mentor.
  2. Evaluate clients, philosophy and organization of school site and develop objectives.
  3. Identify specific teaching problems at work site and apply problem-solving techniques.
  4. Organize reports of progress in meeting objectives for children and in achieving teaching objectives.
  5. Evaluate personal strengths and competencies with college instructor and teacher-supervisor.

Course Level Student Learning Outcomes:


Students completing CHLD 91 - Early Childhood Development Field Work will:
  1. be proficient in their practice in their field of study.
  2. be able to integrate understandings of children's development and needs, to develop and maintain healthy and safe environments for all children in a community school site.
  3. be able to integrate understandings of children's development and needs to develop challenging learning environments for all children in a community school site.
  4. be able to design, implement, and execute curriculum activities that are based on observation and assessment
