This course examines laws relating to marriage, dissolution, nullity, and legal separation.
Includes topics of community property, child custody, child support, spousal support, and
prenuptial/antenuptial agreements.

Course Measurable Objectives:
- Identify the most helpful laws for problem resolution regarding marriage and cohabitation.
- Identify the most common problems representing clients in dissolution actions, interviewing clients, determining fees and costs, and selecting options to dissolution, including reconciliation, separation, nullity and summary dissolution.
- Recognize community property concepts and apply them to settle property disputes and support.
- Apply rules of law to division of property.
- Apply rules of law to resolve problems regarding pension benefits, retirement benefits, and taxation.

- Students completing PLGL 42 - Family Law will be able to comprehend community property concepts and apply to division of assets.
- Students completing PLGL 42 - Family Law will be able to complete a petition for dissolution of marriage.
