This course examines procedures utilized by a paralegal in a law office.
Includes knowledge of court systems, preparation and filing of legal papers and court
documents, and drafting specialized documents in such areas as estate planning, real
estate, divorce, unlawful detainer, adoption, corporations, conservatorships and
guardianships.

Course Measurable Objectives:
- Analyze and compare state, federal and administrative court systems and their individual structures.
- Evaluate the basic procedures involved in civil litigation.
- Inventory, classify and distinguish various court rules.
- Draft and prepare forms (motions and pleadings) in the course of a civil action in legally acceptable style.
- Draft and prepare specialized forms (wills, verifications, proofs of service)in legally acceptable style.
- Analyze and classify different types of discovery methods in the course of a civil proceeding.
- Assess and prepare solutions to specialized problems related to estate planning, real estate divorce, unlawful detainer, adoption, corporations, conservatorships and guardianships.

Students completing PLGL 35A - Law Office Procedure will:
- successfully prepare articles of incorporation.
- successfully prepare a simple will.
