PLGL 31A Course Image
This course instructs you on the use of a law library for legal research and references, reading and analyzing codes and statutes, and preparation of case briefs and research reports.
 
(54 hours lecture;      Degree appropriate)

Course Measurable Objectives:

  1. Identify and describe legal research techniques.
  2. Analyze legal research sources for application to specific projects.
  3. Identify and compare primary and secondary sources of authority.
  4. Appraise court opinions.
  5. Prepare proper legal citations.
  6. Prepare case briefs.
  7. Analyze statutes.

Course Level Student Learning Outcomes:


Students completing PLGL 31A - Legal Analysis and Writing will be able to :
  1. distinguish between and use the various manual legal research resources.
  2. brief a moderately complex legal case.
