This course teaches the student written communications including letters and memos
meeting a variety of situations in the business environment.
Includes writing of good news, bad news, sales, claims, and persuasive correspondence;
letters and resumes appropriate to job seeking and application; and practicing oral
skills as applied to job interviews and business reports.

ENGL 1A - Freshman Composition

Course Measurable Objectives:
- Evaluate business situations and produce appropriate, effective inter-office memorandums.
- Compose an appropriate, effective letter presenting good news, bad news, sales, or persuasive content.
- Apply communication theories and processes to the business environment.
- Use informative and sales letters to convey information and influence people favorably.
- Develop appropriate answers to frequently asked interview questions.
- Develop and deliver a 3-5 minute presentation on a business related topic.

Course Level Student Learning Outcomes:
Students completing BUSO 25 - Business Communications will:
- have discovered new knowledge that relate to discipline, technical and human skills, enabling them to be productive members of the community.
- have developed a genuine professional interest in topics related to the courses completed that will contribute toward motivation for life-long learning.
- have developed the ability to relate material from each course completed to their current and future professional needs, even if these needs fall into a different discipline.
