This course provides a study of business and its functions, background, development,
organization, and opportunities. Business terms, current trends, methods,
contemporary and future problems, and current business practices are covered.

Course Measurable Objectives:
- List and explain the foundations upon which business is built and the economic challenges facing the United States.
- Explain the global dimensions affecting businesses today and in the future.
- Describe and explain social responsibility and business ethics.
- Compare and discuss the structure of American business and the forms of ownership.
- Explain the management and organization of a business.
- Describe the human resource management function and labor-management relationships necessary for organizations to function properly in our competitive environment.
- Explain and analyze marketing management strategies including: product and pricing strategies, distribution strategies and promotional strategies.
- Discuss financial management, banking and risk management.

Students completing BUSM 20 - Principles of Business will:
- have discovered new knowledge that relate to discipline, technical and human skills, enabling them to be productive members of the community.
