The Preschool Program provides an adult-child ratio of one adult for every eight
children in an environment that fosters creativity, discovery, and self-expression.
The program consists of the three year old classroom and two, four
to five year old programs. We maintain a 1:8 adult-child ratio for this age-group.
Teachers model respectful social behavior and provide complex activities and
materials for children to explore at their level of abilities and learning styles.

Master Teachers in the Preschool classrooms develop curriculum based not only on authentic
assessment, but also the implementation of Preschool Pathways to Science , a nature,
science-based teaching approach which helps children 3-5 investigate their everyday world and develop the basics of scientific thinking.
As children particpate in choosing and implementing activities based on their own
interests, they learn to:
-
Make sense of their experience
-
Theorize, analyze, hypothesize, and synthesize
-
Grasp the consequences of their actions
-
Predict others' wishes and feelings
|
-
Make and check predictions
-
Find information on their own
-
Strive for accuracy
-
Persist in problem solving
|
The teaching staff maintains ongoing anecdotal records and assessments of children's
progress which are regularly shared with parents.
