The Infant / Toddler Program embraces the philosophy of the State Department of
Education Child Development Division WestEd "Program for Infant/Toddler
Caregivers." The program serves children from three months to three years
of age and utilizes primary caregivers and a "continuity of care" approach to
transitions.

|
Primary care groups support high quality, authentic interactions between the
caregiver and child. In these groups children are more likely to engage in
spontaneous verbalization and engage more with peers. Primary caregivers
are assigned to a small group of children and care primarily for that group on a
daily basis. This allows for secure attachments and greater bonding. It
is through this primary care process that children develop trust, security, and
comfort.

|
Continuity of care is the process through which infants and toddlers remain with the
same caregiver from three months up to three years of age. This allows
children, caregivers and families to establish strong, supportive relationships.
In addition, the Master Teacher in each classroom develops an Education
Plan which works within the framework of our assessment tool and is individualized
for each child.
