This course is a study of the principles of business law emphasizing legal setting of business, nature of the law and court procedure,
principles of contract law, sales of goods under the Uniform Commercial Code, personal property, bailments, and secured transactions.

Eligibility for
ENGL 68 - Preparation for College Writing

Course Measurable Objectives:
- Contrast state and federal court systems, and civil and criminal legal procedures.
- Compare business torts and analyze their practical application to today's business environment.
- Contrast business crimes, including their application to the businesses as a whole as compared to their application to business owners and officers individually.
- Evaluate the different components necessary for the formation of a valid contract.
- Evaluate whether a contract has been performed or breached.
- Contrast the differences between ordinary contracts and contracts for sale of goods.
- Analyze and apply some of the various defenses to contracts.

Course Measurable Objectives:
- Contrast state and federal court systems, and civil and criminal legal procedures.
- Compare business torts and analyze their practical application to today�s business environment.
- Contrast business crimes, including their application to the businesses as a whole as compared to their application to business owners and officers individually.
- Evaluate the different components necessary for the formation of a valid contract.
- Evaluate whether a contract has been performed or breached.
- Contrast the differences between ordinary contracts and contracts for sale of goods.
- Evaluate the different components necessary for the formation of a valid contract.
- Review, summarize and prepare full cases to present to the class. Students will also write case summaries.
- Demonstrate competency in issue-spotting (law school style) essay examinations covering class topics.
- Write a comprehensive summary and critique of eight hours of superior court trials.

This course presents the principles of business law emphasizing commercial paper, agency, partnerships, corporations, bankruptcy, regulation of trade and real property.

Course Measurable Objectives:
- Identify a negotiable instrument.
- Evaluate the defenses to negotiable instruments.
- Analyze agency and partnership principles.
- Distinguish the need for the corporate form of organization.
- Identify administrative agencies and problems relating to consumer protection, environment, antitrust, bankruptcy and labor relations.

This course presents a comparative approach to the study of the international legal environment for business. Cultural, political, economic and ethical issues are emphasized as well as traditional business law subjects such as sales, commercial paper, corporate law, agency, licensing, employment, crimes, trade regulation and technology transfers.

- Evaluate the legal environment of international business and resolution of legal disputes.
- Apply the laws of sales contracts, credits and commercial paper to international transactions.
- Analyze international and U.S. trade laws.
- Evaluate regulations that exist in the international marketplace.
- Analyze political risks involved in international business decisions.
