Singcopation is one of the nation's premier vocal jazz ensembles.
Formed in 1997 by itvirector Bruce Rogers, Singcopation consists
of 12 exceptional auditioned jazz vocalists.
Over the years, the group has performed numerous concerts at Mt. SAC and performed at the:
American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) California Vocal Jazz Workshop
SCVA Vocal Jazz Competition
Reno Jazz Festival at the University of Nevada
2001 International Association of Jazz (IAJE) Education Convention in New York City
2002 ACDA Western Division Convention in Hawaii
2003 IAJE Convention in Toronto
2005 IAJE Convention in Long Beach (the nation's highest honor for vocal jazz groups)
Singcopation has earned a variety of honors and awards from various vocal jazz competitions, including four DownBeat magazine awards as the nation's "Most Outstanding College Vocal Jazz Choir" (2001, '02, '04 and '05). This exceptional group has performed with Darmon Meader of the "New York Voices" as well as the Kristin Korb Trio.
