FRONTLINE

Conductor: William McIntosh
Frontline continues to establish a tradition of excellence in vocal jazz music. The mixed-voice ensemble was founded in 1999 as part of the growing choral department at Mt. SAC.
During their first year, they received a standing ovation at the Cuesta College Fall Vocal Jazz Festival as well as unanimous perfect scores at the Moorpark Jazz Festival. During the past five years, Frontline has continued to perform and compete in festivals throughout the Southern California area.
Most recently, Frontline received second place at the 2004 Reno Jazz Festival, the largest jazz festival in the western United States. Although members generally come from a variety of musical backgrounds (from hip hop to barbershop) the current members of Frontline have quickly developed a love for jazz music.
In addition to working on a wide range of vocal jazz repertoire, members of Frontline spend rehearsal time on vocal improvisation and solo techniques. Several members are studying vocal jazz style privately.

Auditions: Conducted the first week of classes in the Fall semester.
