"I really enjoy Mt. SAC's music
program as it allows me to express myself. I feel productive,
and I have fun. Students have easy access to
the professors who are caring, approachable, and attentive,
and it's easy to build personal relationships. We get to
do a lot of traveling to perform, the atmosphere is good,
and it's really easy to make friends. There is a lot of
intermingling with the different programs, and you have
the opportunity to be in more than one group. The quality
and standard of the program is high, and the school is
well recognized.
As a choral student at Baldwin High School,
I attended a music festival at Mt. SAC and saw the Chamber
Singers perform. I was blown away and fell in love with
them. I knew that I wanted to be a part of this phenomenal
group. I auditioned and was the only high school student
to make it in to the Chamber Singers choir. I am the Student
Director of the Chamber Singers and I'm undertaking a double
major in music education and vocal performance. I also
teach voice at area high schools. I plan to transfer to
San Francisco State University or Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo."
"Over the last six years the Instrumental Music Department at Mt. SAC has grown in size and quality under the direction of Mr. Jason Chevalier. Every one of my former students who attends Mt. SAC has nothing but good things to say about the education both
academically and musically they are receiving at Mt. SAC. Keep up the GREAT work!"
"I love the music program here. There's a lot to offer from jazz to classical, and all of the groups are very good. There is a lot of diversity and the staff is excellent. My choir at Brea Orlinda High School was invited to hear the Chamber Singers at Mt. SAC and I was really impressed with them. I am a broadcasting major at Mt. SAC and the experience has been extremely positive and I would definitely recommend Mt. SAC and the music program."
"I originally attended Riverside Community College but transferred to Mt. SAC when I heard about the reputation of the music faculty and the groups here. My experience has been absolutely incredible. And as a single mom this is one thing that I do for myself, and I absolutely love it! The groups here are really professional. I find the jazz program challenging, because it pushes me to become the best I can be. Professor Bruce Rogers really cares about his students and helps them to grow professionally. Music is a big part of my life as I also play the violin. It's my dream to one day be part of a quintet. Most people are really surprised by the high caliber and professionalism of the groups here and find it hard to believe that we are from a community college when they hear us perform."
