He currently serves as the Conductor of the Wind Ensemble, Director of the Chamber Winds program and teaches courses in Music Appreciation. Barr served as Associate Conductor of the Wind Ensemble at Mt. In 2010, Barr was selected as one of three winners of the National Band Association’s prestigious Young Conductor Mentor Project. Prior to his arrival at Mt. Under his leadership, the University Band doubled in size since its humble beginnings in 2006 and established a tradition of artistic excellence. He also revived the athletic band program, turning the Titan Varsity Band into one of the premier bands of its kind in the state. Barr also served in the public school system at Esperanza High School in Anaheim, CA where his ensembles consistently received high acclaim at many local and regional festivals.

Barr holds a Master of Music degree in Instrumental Conducting from CSUF, where he was a student of Dr. Mitchell Fennell. He received a Bachelor of Music degree, also from CSUF, graduating as a Presidential Scholar with a dual emphasis in Trumpet Performance and Music Education. He has completed additional symposium studies in conducting with Michael Haithcock, Jerry Junkin, Kevin Sedatole, Craig Kirchhoff, Gary Hill and Steven Davis. As a trumpeter, Barr currently performs in the Orange County Wind Symphony, has been an active musician for the Disneyland Resort, and has appeared as a featured soloist at the Jeju Island International Music Festival in South Korea. Barr holds professional memberships in the College Band Directors National Association, Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association, The National Band Association, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Pi Kappa Lambda and is in demand as a guest clinician, conductor, adjudicator, and trumpeter throughout Southern California.
