The Mt. SAC Board of Trustees is expanding from five to seven elected members due to redistricting, effective in the next election season in November 2013. Candidates are eligible to run for election only in the Trustee Area of their residence and are elected by majority vote of eligible voters only in that Trustee Area.
In November, trustees will be elected in areas 2, 3, 4 and 6 (see Trustee Area map).
Eligible trustee candidates must be at least 18 years old, a California citizen, a registered voter, and a resident of the district area he/she seeks to represent. Candidates cannot be disqualified by other laws to hold public office. Filing instructions and deadlines for Mt. SAC trustee elections will be posted soon.
Community college boards of trustees establish policies relative to the strategic direction of the college’s programs and services, quality standards, and legal, ethical and prudent parameters for college operations. They are accountable to the community for the performance and welfare of the institutions they govern.
