The Story Behind the Award:
"An old man walked up a shore littered with thousands of starfish, beached and dying after a storm. A young man was picking them up and flinging them back into the ocean. "Why do you bother?" the old man scoffed. "You're not saving enough to make a difference." The young man picked up another starfish and sent it spinning back to the water. "Made a difference to that one," he said."
The Starfish Awards are given to Administrative employees who truly make a difference. Any employee may nominate another Administrative Services employee. From those nominated, Mike Gregoryk, Vice President, Administrative Services will choose a winner each month and will invite the recipient and his or her Manager to have lunch with him. The winner will also receive a certificate and a token of appreciation for their contributions to Mt. SAC. Previously nominated employees will remain in the running for future consideration.
Nomination forms are to be sent to Kerry Martinez by the 15th of each month, and a winner will be selected and notified by the end of that month.
