Work Experience (WE) Program - FIRE 96


Rachael Brown  Rachael E. Brown began her career in the private sector as a Human Resources Generalist.  As a Human Resources Generalist one of her major responsibilities was to coordinate, recruit, and oversee the student internship program at her company.  She later joined the staff at Mount San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) in 2012 as the Special Projects and Work Based Learning Coordinator. Rachael has been instrumental in establishing fire department partnerships with Mt. SAC.  Rachael has a BA degree in Sociology from University of Southern California (USC) and a Human Resources Management Certificate from CSU Long Beach.  In addition to Work Experience,  Rachael also assists students with career documents  (resumes,  cover letter, applications) and interviewing  skills and techniques.

Get Hands-on In The Fire 96 Class


The Work Experience program is designed to give students hands-on opportunity to experience their potential career path while earning course credit. Students spend a semester with a fire department or private industry fire partner and participate in various activities/projects.  It is a golden opportunity to build your resume and professional network.  Participating departments are Montclair, Hermosa Beach, Los Angeles County Fire , West Covina,  Rancho Cucamonga, Chino Valley, Upland,   La Habra Heights, Mt. SAC Fire Academy Training Center, Simplex Grinnell and ConFire Dispatch Center. 

Work Experience is not open to all students.

Students eligible to participate in FIRE 96 Work Experience must have the following:

  • Overall good academic standing
  • Completed a minimum of 12 units of FIRE courses OR Completed one SAMC course
  • Be able to dedicate a minimum of 8 hours per week to the program.
