Children and Teens


    • Acting

      Commercial Acting for Kids and Teens (ages 6-17)
      This 2-day seminar will teach you to act like a pro while on location at the famous Zydeco Casting Studio. In these fun, challenging and informative classes, you will learn about:

      • Commercial acting and auditioning
      • The right way to enter the industry
      • Professional tools (photos and resumes)
      • Optional discounted color headshot

      All work is on camera plus you will receive a tape to keep. The instructor, June Chandler heads the well-known Young Actors Workshop, a top source for new talent.

    • Mt. SAC Children's Choir
      THE DOLCE CHOIR (1st-3rd GRADE)
      This choir is open to any child and does not require an audition for membership.    Singers will be taught primarily through game songs and simple unison melodies to love singing and to use their voices with freedom.Classes will include intro to singing in a rehearsal setting, vocal warm-ups, development of coordination through movement, and public performance opportunities.    

       

      THE CANTABILE SINGERS (3rd-6th GRADE)
      Auditions for this choir will be held in August and in January. Singers in this choir will continue to develop their musical knowledge and skills through tonal and rhythmic exercises and by singing 2-3 part repertoire. Students will study fundamental singing techniques, focus on proper tone quality, intonation, ear training and music literacy. 

       

      THE MT. SAC YOUTH CHORALE (7th-10th GRADE)
      Auditions for this choir will be held in August and in January.  This ensemble is open to any youth with a treble (unchanged) voice and a desire to sing in an outstanding choral ensemble.   These singers should be ready for challenging repertoire, increased rehearsal intensity and performance requirements. Multiple languages, solos, and small ensemble performances can be expected at this level.

      Beginning Piano for Children(Ages 6-13) Kids 1
      An educational system of learning to read and play music is emphasized incorporating Suzuki teaching methods. Parental assistance is encouraged.

      An educational system of learning to read and play music is emphasized incorporating Suzuki teaching methods. Parental assistance is encouraged.

      Group Suzuki Violin - Beginners (Ages 6 thru Adult)
      Sizing, rental and purchasing information will be discussed at the first class. There will be a recital the last day of class.

      Group Suzuki Violin - Book 1A
      Students must be able to play in the keys of A and D and know how to play up to "May Song" or the equivalent. Please bring Suzuki Book 1 to class. There is a recital the last day of class.

      Group Suzuki Violin - Book 1B & Book 2
      A continuation of 1A. Students must complete Suzuki Group Violin Book 1A class prior to registration in 1B. There will be a recital the last day of class.

      Group Suzuki Violin - Books 3 and 4
      Students must be able to play in the keys of A, D, G, F, B major and G minor, and know how to play the "Martini Gavotte" or the equivalent. Suzuki Violin Books 3 and 4 are needed. There will be a recital the last day of class.

      Chamber Music for Strings - Violin Levels 5-8
      This course is designed with the accomplished student in mind who reads music well and has had experience playing in an orchestra. Chamber music will challenge and develop every aspect of the student's musicianship because it places greater demands on the individual for expression, technical accuracy, listening skills and sensitivity to others within the ensemble. We will explore the sonata, trio or quartet repertoire with a public presentation at the last class.

      Chamber Music for Strings-Viola Levels 5-8
      This course is designed with the accomplished student in mind who reads music well and has had experience playing in an orchestra. Chamber music will challenge and develop every aspect of the student's musicianship because it places greater demands on the individual for expression, technical accuracy, listening skills and sensitivity to others within the ensemble. We will explore the sonata, trio or quartet repertoire with a public presentation at the last class.
