What is I.D.E.A.S?

  • A club on campus that supports the education of undocumented students
  • A support network for undocumented students: we share our day-to-day experiences struggles, and successes with each other
  • A politically active student organization that advocates for legislation that empowers immigrant communities
  • We provide each other with academic support and financial resources

 The different components of I.D.E.A.S

  • Fundraising:
    • We fundraise to financially support the higher education of undocumented students at Mt. Sac
  • Outreach:
    • We feel it is important to inform and educate our communities about their opportunities to higher education and their safety as undocumented people
      • High School presentations: we outreach to different high schools to educate and inform about the struggles of the undocumented
      • Know your rights: we organize events that educate the immigrant community about their rights as human beings
  • Advocacy:
    • We support for legislation that empowers immigrant communities: California DREAM Act, Federal DREAM Act, Immigrant Reform, and the Queer Undocumented experience
  • Support Network:
    • As undocumented students we go through many struggles and IDEAS is a safe place where we can have someone who understands the problems we go through and can give us the emotional support
  • IDEAS has managed to create a safe space not only for undocumented students, but also for allies. We became a family that continues with traditions such as May Day, Cesar Chavez Pilgrimage, etc. We have worked hard this semester to show our campus what IDEAS is all about and come together to better our future generations and provide support for our undocumented community.
  • We are proud that we were able to win 1st place at Join-A-Club and 2nd place at Culture Fair. Hard work pays off!
  • We want to keep growing and connect with undocumented students and allies to keep providing resources and support to make this world better, one step at a time.
