How to Take ESL Classes

If you are a new student to Mt. San Antonio College, follow these three steps to register for ESL classes:

Step 1: Placement Test

Take the ESL Placement Test and participate in the ESL Orientation in Building 66, first floor. Tests are offered every Thursday, and sign-ups begin 30 minutes before each test. A photo ID is required to take the test. Allow two hours for registration, orientation, and the placement test.

   Test Times:
  • Morning Classes: 8:30 am and 11:00 am
  • Evening Classes: 4:30 pm and 7:00 pm

Step  2: Register

Register for ESL classes or, if the classes are full, register for the waiting list. If you are placed on a waiting list, you will be notified by mail when space becomes available.

Step 3: Student ID

Get a student ID.  We will issue you a Mt. SAC student ID number.

Test scores are valid for two years.  If you are a continuing student and have not taken any ESL classes, or have not taken the ESL placement test, for more than two years, you will need to retake the placement test.

Classes and programs are available to California residents 17 years of age and older.

To get your student ID, you must get a printout of your current schedule from the ESL Registration Counter (Bldg. 66) and present it to the Photo ID window at the Bookstore (Building 9A). There is a $10 fee. You will be able to pick up your ID immediately.
