Mt. SAC Planetarium Programs Scheduled in May
WALNUT, Calif.––– The Mt. San Antonio College Randall Planetarium presents a series of programs on the stars and planets with evening and afternoon showings for adults and children in May.
"Secret of the Cardboard Rocket," a special program for children, will be presented on Friday, May 3, at 4 p.m. In this program, two children are on the adventure of a lifetime when they build a rocket out of cardboard and go on an exciting journey through the solar system using nothing but an astronomy book, their own imaginations, and the magic of the cardboard rocket.
"Star Tales," a show on the stars, constellations, and planets, will run Friday, May 3, at 6 and 7:30 p.m. Learn the stories behind the heavenly bodies and find out how to view them from your own backyard.
"Astronaut," a program on what it takes to be an astronaut, will be held on Saturday, May 4, at 6 and 7:30 p.m. The exploration of space is the greatest endeavor that humankind has ever undertaken. Discover the perils that lurk in space as we subject “Chad,” our test astronaut, to everything that space has to throw at him.
"Awesome Light: Discoveries from the Telescopes of Maunakea," a program on recent telescope discoveries, will be shown Saturday, May 18, at 6 and 7:30 p.m. Find out what discoveries can be made with telescopes by experiencing the observatories in Maunakea, Hawaii. Chase asteroids with NASA’s Infrared Telescope, watch supernovae through the giant 2.2-meter optical telescope, and share stories with the astronomers of tomorrow.
Tickets are $6 for general admission, $4 for students, seniors, and children 6-13, and $1 for children 5 and under.
For tickets, call the Mt. SAC Performing Arts Box Office at (909) 468-4050. Tickets are also available online at https://tickets.mtsac.edu and at the door before each program.
