Mt. SAC Planetarium Presents Astronomy Programs in September
WALNUT, Calif.––– The Mt. San Antonio College Randall Planetarium will present a new season of programs on the stars and planets with evening and matinee showings for adults and children throughout September.
One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure, a special program for preschoolers, will be presented on Wednesdays, Sept. 12 and 26, at 10 a.m. matinees. In this program, Sesame Street’s Big Bird, Elmo and their friend from China, Hu Hu Zhu, take viewers on a journey of discovery to learn about the Big Dipper, the North Star, the sun, and the moon.
Deep Space: Binocular Astronomy, a program on using binoculars to explore the night sky, will be held on Friday, Sept. 21, 6 and 7:30 p.m. Under the direction of an astronomer, examine star clusters, distant galaxies, and beautiful nebulas all with the use of binoculars. Binoculars will be provided.
Tales of the Maya Skies, a program on Maya science and astronomy, will be shown on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 6 and 7:30 p.m. Take a journey back in time to the jungles of Mexico and hear the stories of the ancient Maya civilization, and how the planets and astronomical events influenced the Maya people.
Tickets are $6 for general admission, $4 for students, seniors, and children 6-13, and $1 for children 5 and under.
