WALNUT, Calif.––The Mt. San Antonio Art Gallery will kickoff its 2010-11 season with an exhibit by German painter Joachim Hiller, “Joachim Hiller Retrospective,” which runs Sept. 30 through Nov. 11 at the Mt. SAC Art Gallery. This exhibit is free and open to the public. “Retrospective” features work from 40 years of the artist’s career and exemplify Hiller’s theme of the four elements of nature––earth, water, fire, and air. His abstract paintings express a sense of timelessness and modernity. Hiller studied in Berlin and worked for many years as a graphics artist and art director before dedicating himself exclusively to painting in 1969.
A special opening reception will be held Thursday, Sept. 30, 4 to 7:30 p.m., in the Art Gallery. A musical performance by jazz pianist Michael Kahr will be held in conjunction with the exhibit at 6 p.m. in the Feddersen Recital Hall. Gallery hours are Tuesdays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Tuesday nights, 5 to 7:30 p.m.
