Mt. SAC Administrator Recognized for State Leadership
WALNUT, Calif.—Mt. San Antonio College Financial Aid Director Susan Jones was recently recognized with four awards by community college state organizations for her statewide leadership in financial aid.
California Community College Chancellor Mark Drummond presented Jones with the first-ever California Community College Financial Aid Most Valuable Leader Award for her contributions as a leader in financial aid. During the past year, she was the creative force behind the “Financial Aid Awareness Month” campaign, during which nearly 100 colleges hosted more than 300 campus events to promote financial aid.
Jones, who has been at Mt. SAC for 31 years and has served as Financial Aid Director since 1992, was also honored with the California Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators’ (CASFAA) Segmental Award and President’s Award for her leadership and advocacy efforts. A resident of Walnut, Jones has served on the statewide executive council for the CASFAA, the financial aid association for all colleges and universities in the state.
The California Community College Student Financial Aid Administrators Association also recognized her for serving a one-year term as president of the organization, which represents community college financial aid administrators throughout California. During her tenure, she was instrumental in promoting financial aid awareness through a statewide media campaign that particularly reached out to Spanish-speaking audiences.
