Mt. SAC to Stage Student Shows

WALNUT, Calif.–––The Mt. San Antonio College Theater Program will stage an evening of eight student-written and directed plays, “Playing God,” on Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 4-6, at 8 p.m., in Mt. SAC’s Studio Theater. A special Sunday matinee performance will be given on Feb. 7 at 2 p.m.

The eight one-act student plays include collection of dramas and comedies that provide whimsical insights into modern life. The plays are “Playing God or Hardly Playing,” “Help Wanted,” Stuck with You,” “Consequences,” “Super Date,” “1 + 1 = Too Weird,” “One, Two…,” and “Lunch.” Theater professor Richard Strand coordinates this Mt. SAC production.

Tickets are $12 for general admission, $9 for seniors, students, and children under 12.

Mt. SAC’s KSAK Wins Two Golden Mikes

WALNUT, Calif.––– Mt. San Antonio College’s radio station, 90.1 KSAK, won two Golden Mike awards at the Radio and Television News Association of Southern California’s annual awards ceremony held Jan. 23 at the Universal Hilton in Hollywood.

Student Cecilia Gonzalez (West Covina) won a Golden Mike for Best Traffic Report in division B for radio stations with fewer than six full-time staff. KSAK operations coordinator Cason Smith (Rowland Heights) won the division B Best Individual Writing award for his story on South African track star Caster Semenya.

The Mt. SAC radio station has won 16 Golden Mikes in the past five years.

“Going up against major market stations, it’s very impressive that Mt. SAC’s radio station can consistently win Golden Mike awards year after year,” said Smith, who has been the operations coordinator at KSAK for eight years and teaches broadcasting at Mt. SAC.

The Radio and Television News Association of Southern California annually honors the best in radio and television, ranging from the major networks to college stations.

Mt. SAC’s Spring Semester Registration Opens Jan. 19

WALNUT, Calif.––– Online registration for Mt. San Antonio College's spring semester credit classes opens Jan. 19 through Feb. 17. Classes begin on Monday, Feb. 22.

New and continuing students must register for classes online at my.mtsac.edu, as telephone registration is no longer available. Before registering, new students are required to activate their personal Mt. SAC portal accounts at the same website, which provides set-up instructions. Students will receive a registration date and time in their portal account and will not be allowed to register before their assigned time.

For students who do not have computer access, computers and assistance will be provided in the Student Services Center during business hours.

New students must submit an admission application online at www.mtsac.edu. They may also apply in person at the Admissions & Records Office on campus, located in the Student Services Center. The Admissions Office is open Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. New students must also contact the Counseling Department to sign up for the required orientation session before registering for classes.
