ADJUNCT PROFESSOR, CHILD DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
ADJUNCT PROFESSOR, CHILD DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

THIS IS A TEMPORARY, HOURLY AS NEEDED POSITION WITHOUT PERMANENT STATUS

SALARY: $68.48 PER LECTURE HOUR EQUIVALENT (Adjunct are placed on salary schedule)

DUTIES: Teach courses in the discipline of child development such as but not limited to, Growth and Development, Health and Safety, Child Family and Community, Music and Movement, etc. Attend adjunct meetings or functions. Submit all college required forms in a timely manner.

QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education, or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education OR Bachelor’s in any of the above AND Master’s in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies, or family and consumer studies OR the equivalent.

Required:
A. One of the following:

1. Minimum Qualifications and experience

2. Possession of a California credential authorizing service as an instructor in the appropriate discipline at the community college level; AND

B. Commitment to the community college goals/objectives of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse abilities and interests; personal qualities to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural student environment; awareness and commitment to the special needs of non-traditional students; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Preferred:
1. 3-5 year’s classroom experience with infants, toddlers or preschool aged children with responsibilities as the lead teacher.

2. 1 year college teaching.

3. Computer literacy necessary for some course components and required reports.

FOREIGN TRANSCRIPTS: Transcripts issued outside the United States of America require a course-by-course analysis with an equivalency statement from a certified transcript evaluation service verifying the degree equivalency to that of an accredited institution within the USA. This report must be attached with the application.

The number of vacancies is dependent on student enrollment, College resources, needs, and Board of Trustees' approval.
