NON-CREDIT INSTRUCTOR- IHSS

THIS IS A TEMPORARY, HOURLY AS NEEDED POSITION WITHOUT PERMANENT STATUS

SALARY: $48.33 (First step/column placement on the Continuing Education Instructor Pay scale)

HOURS: Monday – Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. for a 7 week course (approximately 100 hours total during the above hours). Actual classroom hours may vary due to room availability.

DATES: July 9, 2013 – August 23, 2013

DUTIES: Provide instruction of In-Home Support Services curriculum and skills; provide conceptualized basic skills instruction (reading, writing, math); assess student learning outcomes; report data and use of results; prepare daily lesson activities outlined in curriculum

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught OR an Associate degree AND six (6) years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught OR a full-time, clear California Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the subject matter.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in teaching CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) curriculum
• Knowledge of skills and theory related to the field of health care, specifically personal care attendant as demonstrated by professional history
• Experience teaching a non-traditional, possibly low-skilled student population
• Knowledge of diverse teaching methodologies and adult learning theory
• Ability to work with a diverse group of students
• LVN, RN, or a demonstrated long-term experience as a practitioner in medical field
• Teaching experience
