Under the direction of the Director-Facilities Planning & Management, plan, organize, control and direct operations and activities involved in the regular, preventative, predictive, and scheduled maintenance and repair of College facilities, utility systems and equipment; Oversee College warehousing, shipping, receiving, fixed asset tracking, and equipment recycling and redistribution; coordinate related communications, projects, construction activities, personnel and resources to meet College maintenance, utility system operation, and warehousing needs and assure smooth and efficient activities; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.
EXAMPLES OF KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Plan, organize, control and direct operations and activities involved in the responsive, preventative, predictive, and scheduled maintenance and repair of College facilities, utility systems and equipment including tasks in carpentry, electrical work, HVAC, construction, plumbing painting and general maintenance; assure related functions comply with established laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, policies and procedures
• Act as a primary responder to coordinate the emergency and after hours response to urgent facility needs
• Coordinate communications, projects, construction activities, personnel and resources to meet College maintenance needs and assure smooth and efficient activities; establish and maintain related time lines and priorities; plan, develop and implement scheduled maintenance and special repair projects; inspect completed projects for accuracy, completeness and compliance with established requirements, building codes, and campus standards
• Oversee College warehouse operations including material stores for Facilities Management and other units, shipping and receiving, and fixed asset tracking. Participate in the College Recycling Management Team and manage equipment recycling, redistribution, and disposal efforts
• Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel; participate in the screening and interview process to hire new employees; recommend transfers, reassignment, termination and disciplinary actions; coordinate subordinate work assignments and schedules, and review work to ensure compliance with established standards, requirements and procedures
• In conjunction with other Facilities Managers, oversee the implementation and operation of the department’s computerized maintenance management system
• In conjunction with the College Energy Services Manager, plan and implement energy saving programs and projects to ensure efficient and sustainable building and utility operation and oversee the College building automation systems
• Estimate labor, material and equipment needed for regular maintenance, scheduled maintenance, and special repair projects and activities; monitor inventory levels of materials and equipment; order, receive and maintain adequate inventory levels of materials and equipment; coordinate and conduct regular and periodic inventories; prepare and approve purchase requisitions as required
• Participate in the design, development and implementation of construction and renovation projects related to utility, mechanical and structural systems
• Inspect buildings, equipment, utility systems, grounds and facilities to assure compliance with established codes and requirements
• Coordinate maintenance activities to assure compliance with air quality requirements; serve as a liaison with utility companies, regulatory agencies and various other outside organizations
• Participate in the development and preparation of the annual preliminary budgets for the warehouse, maintenance operation, scheduled maintenance, and repair projects and activities; review and evaluate budgetary and financial data; control and authorize expenditures in accordance with established limitations
• Assist in the development of plans and specifications for major and minor capital construction and renovation projects; maintain current facility, as-built, utility and mechanical system drawings, plans and specifications
• Lead efforts to establish and maintain building structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing standards, and assist others to ensure standards are kept for building telecommunications and audio visual systems, roadways, parking areas, signage, and access control systems
• Provide technical information and assistance to the Director, Facilities Planning and Management concerning administrative activities, needs and issues; assist in the formulation and development of policies, procedures and programs
• Operate standard office equipment including a computer and assigned software; drive a vehicle to conduct work
• Attend and conduct various meetings as assigned; serve as a member of the Facilities Management Team

Bachelor’s degree in one of the following: engineering, architecture, construction management, business administration or related field; and three years management experience in facilities management OR 10 years experience in facilities management with 5 years in a management position and college level coursework in business or engineering disciplines

SELECTION PROCEDURE
A screening committee will evaluate applicants, taking into account the breadth and depth of relevant education, training, experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities. Selected applicants will be invited for an interview. (Costs reimbursed up to $500 per candidate for over 150 miles one-way). Each candidate interviewed will be asked to complete a writing assignment one hour prior to the scheduled interview. The screening committee will recommend finalists to the college President. Preferred beginning date of employment will be determined after the screening/interviewing process is complete.
SALARY & BENEFITS*
Salary Range: M- 13 ($100,632 – $109,728)
The District contributes $5,993 to medical, dental, vision and life insurance coverage. Lifetime medical benefits are provided for eligible retirees. *Subject to change.
