Superintendent, El Monte School District
Jeffrey Seymour is Superintendent of the El Monte City School District, a suburban
school district serving children from pre-school age through the eighth grade. Founded
in the 1880s, the district serves over 12,000 children, has 18 school sites and employs
1,200 full-time and part-time employees.
A gifted educator, Mr. Seymour makes learning fun and creates a classroom environment where diversity is applauded and students are encouraged to make positive choices to benefit themselves and classmates.
After attending Mt. SAC in 1967, Mr. Seymour transferred to USC, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in history and physical science and a master’s degree in educational administration. He began teaching in the El Monte School District as an elementary school teacher rising to assistant principal and principal in various schools until becoming the Superintendent. Mr. Seymour has served the school district for 15 years and has 33 years in public education.
Mr. Seymour is active in the community, having served as a Director for the Boys Republic in Chino since 1993, and is the Vice President for the Clayton Foundation which assists youth and families. He also volunteers for the Citrus Valley Health Partners 2100 Club, which raises funds for the hospital and the Boy Scouts of America.
Mr. Seymour and his wife of 30 years, Suzanne, have three children, Katie, David and Caroline.
