2002 ALUMNUS OF THE YEAR
President / CEO, JCM Engineering Corporation
As immigrants from Argentina who migrated to the United States in 1968, Carlo Moyano
and his family spent years chasing the American dream—to become business owners.
At age 8, he found his entrepreneurial spirit working along side his father, a journeyman
tool and die maker. Today, Mr. Moyano is the President and Chief Executive Officer
of JCM Engineering Corporation, which employs over 140 people in a 140,000-square-foot,
state-of-the-art facility in Ontario.
The company has emerged among the nation’s leading manufacturing companies, of complex machining and assemblies for the aerospace, commercial, and defense industries. JCM support some of the worlds’ foremost manufacturing companies including The Boeing Company, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, United Technologies, as well as the U.S. Government.
Recently, President George Bush visited the company during his West Coast tour of California.
The groundwork for Mr. Moyano’s success stems from his studies at Mt. SAC. He claims his college experience enhanced his communication skills and business acumen and prepared him for entrepreneurship and leadership. But it was his work with the manufacturing program at Mt. SAC that helped him turn a small, garage based machine shop in 1978 into JCM Engineering today.
Mr. Moyano is a strong supporter of education and provides tuition-based reimbursement incentives to JCM associates pursuing additional education to enhance their skills and knowledge. Members of his company donated over 500 pounds of food to Harvest House during Thanksgiving 2001, and made contributions to United Way, the September 11th fund, and the Inland Empire Abandoned and Abused Children’s Group.
