Xavier Padilla, Student Trustee

Xavier Padilla is the student member of the Mt. SAC Board of Trustees, serving a one-year term through May 2010. He was elected by students of Mt. SAC to represent their issues and perspectives on college policy matters.
After graduating from high school, Padilla spent a couple of years working in the real estate and financial services industry. This experience inspired him to form his own real estate mortgage company. Following the subprime market crisis, he decided to pursue higher education and enrolled at Mt. SAC in 2007.
In just a short period of time at the college, Padilla has begun making a difference in the lives of students. As the community relations senator for the Associated Students, he co-founded the New Student Community Discount Program, which provides students discount prices at over 20 local businesses. He plans to get the discounts increased and expand the number of participating vendors. Padilla has also been appointed to represent the A.S. on the Mt. SAC Foundation Board. For his initial accomplishments, he has received the A.S.'s "Most Leadership Ability Award."
Additionally, Padilla is a stellar member of the Mt. SAC Forensics Team, having earned a bronze award for informative speaking at both the state and national Phi Rho Pi championship competitions in 2009. Academically, he is enrolled in Mt. SAC's honors program and is an active member of Alpha Gamma Sigma, the state's community college honor society. His ultimate educational goal is to earn a master's degree in real estate development and also to study political science.
Concurrent with his studies, Padilla has maintained his entrepreneurial spirit as owner of a small business, Excel Credit Solutions, where he helps customers restore their FICO credit scores.
