Cheryl D. Jamison, Student Trustee

Cheryl Jamison currently serves as the Student Trustee on the Mt. San Antonio College Board of Trustees. She was elected by the student body to serve a one-year term (beginning in June 2008) and represent the interests and viewpoints of Mt. SAC's 65,000 students.
Since retiring from a stellar 25-year career as a licensed court reporter in California (mostly with the Los Angeles Superior Court), Jamison has been able to focus on pursuing her college education. After less than two years at Mt. SAC, she earned an Associate in Arts in Social & Behavioral Sciences and an Associate in Arts in Language Arts & Communication (2008). When she begins her upper-division studies at the University of California-Berkeley in 2009, she will major in political science and rhetoric. She then plans to pursue a Juris Doctorate and seek admission to the California State Bar.
Jamison says her experiences as a "re-entry student" have been remarkable. As a Mt. SAC Honors Program Student Ambassador, she gave more than 50 presentations to over 750 students concerning the benefits and requirements of the Honors Program. She was an active member of Phi Theta Kappa (the international community college honor society) and keynoted the Fall 2007 Induction Ceremony for Mt. SAC's PTK chapter.
Having served as both Associate and Chief Justice of the Mt. SAC Associated Students Judiciary, Jamison believes that governance is best served when competing ideas are not only considered, but encouraged. She also cherishes her service on the Mt. SAC President's Advisory Council.
Jamison has received several honors and awards, including her selection to the elite 2008 All-California Academic Team, as well as her selection for the 2008 Mt. SAC Inspiring Woman and Student of Distinction honors. Cheryl also received scholarships from the College to complete her undergraduate degree.
