Legacy of Excellence
The Academic Senate celebrated professional excellence by naming several outstanding Employees of the Year
Dr. Carmen Rexach, a biology professor, was selected as Outstanding Faculty of the Year based upon a record of contributions to Mt. SAC and the community, her committed relationships with students, and her unique efforts as a pioneering educator.
Margie Whalen, an English professor, received recognition for Outstanding Instructional Activities as a full-time faculty professor, in part, for her demonstrated commitment to the continuous improvement of instructional activities for Mt. SAC students.
Naluce Morris, a biology/human sexuality professor, was chosen as the recipient of the Outstanding Adjunct Instructional Award, in part, for her demonstrated effective use of teaching pedagogies and success in promoting student critical thinking and communication skills.
Dr. Amrik Dua, a business professor, was chosen as Outstanding Department Chair, based on evidence of successful leadership, innovative approaches to serving students, and commitment to involving adjunct faculty in the department.
Meghan Chen, dean of the Library and Learning Resources Division, was named Outstanding Manager of the Year, based on a record of achievement in the areas of professionalism, commitment to the district mission, service to students, and contributions to the college community.
Ana Jara De Araya, a biological sciences lab tech, was named Outstanding Classified Employee of the Year for exemplary performance, demonstrated commitment and involvement, and significant contributions as a leader in her field
